Consort Players...
Community Theatre with Class!

Welcome to the Consort Players 2003 Web Site featuring the cast and crew of this year's production:

Lone Star Love Potion

                                Live in Consort:
                                                April 24, 25, 26 & 27,
                                                    May 1, 2 and 3, 2003

Written by Michael Parker

Produced under special license in co-operation with Samuel French, Inc.

Set on the L.C. Circle Ranch, the plot swirls around the dispensation of a deceased eccentric rancher's estate and the greedy herd of relatives, friends and employees who lock horns to grab it all. The ranch alone is worth millions! Suddenly, a mysterious secret "love potion" emerges from the vault and pandemonium erupts as the heirs test the potion on each other, with amorously-awry results.

Who will finally own the priceless formula? The unflappable butler, the klutzy maid, the nefarious niece and her lecherous husband, the next door neighbor, the dowdy birdwatcher or the oh-so-shrewd lawyer?

Saddle up for a rodeo of plot twists and visual gags before all is "bared" in a surprise ending!

DIRECTORS MESSAGE:

TERRY McMAHON, Director

Like your worst nightmare this zany group keeps coming back again and again in an attempt to take you away into la-la land if only for a few hours, and to raise money for the hospital. I can’t think of a better reason. As always these productions cannot be fulfilled without the cooperation of our entire community and area. People travel many miles just to donate their time in the kitchen, the bar or serving tables, as well as donate food. To those of you who travel those many miles to see our productions I take my hat off to you as well. We appreciate you coming back year after year. This year the bar is being run by the Alfred BROWN Handibus Society. This society operates an eighteen passenger handibus for area seniors, and as well recently purchased a new Pioneer Ford, Ford Windstar minivan to better serve the seniors. Tax deductible donations can be made to the society to help with operating and capital expenditures. Check at the bar ticket desk for further information.

LYLE JACOBSEN, Producer

Guess who? Yup, Lyle's back again. He keeps threatening to retire and we just ignore him, and then give him his duties for the year. Then he goes and does his usual fantastic job of putting it all together. No one else has the vast experience needed to do it all and we depend on Jake for a lot of things. A simple thank-you is all we can offer you, Jake for your many years of dedicated service. Keep the suggestions coming. Lyle will still greet you at the door and make sure you find your table. Lyle is the owner of Jacobsen’s Drug Store.

WENDY McMAHON, Assistant Director and Hostess

About seven years ago Wendy figured if you can’t beat 'em – join 'em. Terry was gone half the winter and spring to rehearsals, so if she wanted to spend more time with him…well you get the picture. We call Wendy Assistant Director because it sounds better than head gopher, chief understudy, set director, seamstress, and HOSTESS.

Along with all her other duties she, along with Lyle, will greet you at the door and help you to your table. Thanks Wendy for all that you do to make this a great event year after year.

THE CAST:

(in order of appearance)

Melody - Nicole Woods

Nicole is on stage again for her fourth acting role, but was behind the scenes for several more making sure everyone got their “lies” right.  Having been recently married, we are indeed fortunate to have her back once again, as a maid who can do no right. Sit back and watch this talented actress klutz her way into your hearts, and perhaps into someone else's. Thank-you Nicole, for once again being on stage. As always you make the plays better just by being there.

Jarvis - Chris Eamer

“Playing Doctor”, “The Senator Wore Pantyhose”, or “Right Bed, Wrong Husband”, if you happened to be in the audience for any of those productions you will remember the great job that Chris has done in the past. Jarvis is the butler at the ranch that he hopes is to be his after the death of the owner. Can he pull it off?  Wait and see - we do know that he will pull off another year of great performances. Chris is employed in the oil patch and on the family farm. Kudos to you for fitting us in to your busy work schedule, and family life.

Patrice  Leadly- Jenna Vold

When Cathy Groulx left our midst for the north, this young lady put on an incredible performance at the going away party. We immediately put her name at the top of our list to get into the fold. You would never guess that Jenna is still in high school and will graduate this year. Jen is a super athlete and represents the Consort School on the basketball and volleyball teams. Good thing she is in shape for all the running round she does on stage chasing "Pookie” all over. Keep it up, Miss Vold, you are a natural and have many audiences to please in your lifetime.

Michael Leadly - Bryan Romaniuk

Bryan is back as a member of our group for year four, having been in “The Amorous Ambassador”, “Right Bed Wrong Husband”, and “Boeing, Boeing”.  Like fine wine, Bryan gets better with age, as long as the wine is not “watered down.” As usual, Bryan has a “hands on” approach to life however not everyone shares his great “touch”. Great to have you back for another year Bryan.  Bryan is employed at Pioneer Ford as a technician.

Mr. Oakfield - Terry McMahon

After taking a year off from being both actor and director, Terry is once again taking on the double duty. “I was threatened by Robbie Knight that there had better be a part for me on stage this year.” Between acting and directing, this is year eleven for Terry, who returns to a previous character of “lawyer.” Still employed as a special constable and having played a lawyer, a sheriff and a Mafioso, it seems he is having trouble making up his mind what he wants to do. What is a “Pookie” anyway? Got any ideas “Snookums?”

Tammy-Jo Harper - Tara Tym

Tara has been behind the scenes as a prompter for a number of years. Growing up on the farm gave her the experience to draw on to be “the ranch owner next door.” This is Tara’s  first appearance on stage and like every new-comer she was a little nervous at the beginning. Being around the rest of the gang through rehearsals quickly resolved that, as she has come through with flying colors all of the time.  Aptly, Tara is employed at the Consort Health Centre as administrative secretary. Thanks Tara, Tammy-Jo looks good on you.

Mary Lou Winston - Sandra King

From airline stewardess to matronly ornithologist, now there is a career change, if only on stage. Sandra has been in two previous productions, The "Amorous Ambassador", and last year in "Boeing, Boeing" and brought her great talent back to grace our stage once more. Talk about a change of pace this year from matronly ornithologist to….. it wouldn’t be fair to let that out of the bag now, would it. Sit back and enjoy her onstage antics. Sandra is the Administrator at the Village of Consort, as well as being a busy Mom.

Bar Service:

Bar Service for "Lone Star Love Potion" is provided by the Alfred Brown Handi-Bus Society. Full bar service is available for all performances. Please be responsible and DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. For your convenience, the organizers have made arrangements for a drive home service. Ask your host or hostess for further information.
